Apprentices and trainees who are completing or have recently completed a course aligned to a national training package at a Victorian TAFE or registered training provider may be eligible to enter an open-age regional competition.

The WorldSkills model relies primarily on volunteers to mentor competitors and to organise and judge competitions.
